Reports to the Carpenter Foreman/Leadhand, and installs, maintains and repairs glazing in the school district buildings. POSTING DETAILS Position - Glazier Start Date - As soon as possible Employment - Continuing, full-time (40 hours/week) Hours - Monday to Friday (7:30am to 4:00pm) Duties & Responsibilities Cuts, prepares, edges, fabricates and installs all types of glass and mirrors. Prepares work order estimates of time and materials.Installs, maintains and/or repairs screens. Measures and orders replacement sealed glazing units. Orders and maintains an adequate supply of stock. Assists with carpentry duties as required. Operates tools and equipment of the trade. Respond to emergency situations as requested. Inspects (daily) and operates a service vehicle. Performs other assigned comparable duties which are within the scope of knowledge, Skills and abilities required by this class specification. Required Qualifications Completion of Grade 12. Apprenticeship and/or Trades Qualification Certificate (Glazier). B.C. Driver's License. Ability to perform a variety of skilled tasks in the installation and maintenance of glass and mirrors. Thorough and current knowledge of the standards, practices, regulations, methods, tools and equipment of the trade. Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy and tact in the explanation and exchange of information. Ability to determine, judge and select appropriate course of action within limits of established methods and procedures. Skill in the use of tools of the trade. Physical ability to perform the required duties.
