Job summary

Job Title : Maternity/Pediatric Nursing Subject Matter Expert (SME) Position Type : Contract (Remote) Education Requirement : Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or higher Experience Required : Minimum 2 years teaching Maternity-Peds course at the undergraduate or graduate level in Canada Position Overview : We are seeking a qualified and experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) to develop high-quality assessment items aligned with course outcomes for a Canadian Maternity-Peds course. The SME will collaborate with instructional designers and academic leads to ensure that all items reflect current best practices, support critical thinking, and adhere to item-writing standards for nursing education. Key Responsibilities : ● Develop Adaptive Quiz Assessment items (e.g., multiple choice, select-all-that-apply, prioritizing/step) specific to nursing research topics. ● Ensure items are accurate, original, evidence-based, and aligned with course learning objectives. ● Provide rationales for correct and incorrect responses to support learner understanding. ● Collaborate with the content team to revise or improve existing items for clarity, rigor, and relevance. ● Apply principles of academic integrity and copyright compliance in all authored work. ● Adhere to item-writing guidelines, including cognitive level targets (e.g., Bloom’s Taxonomy), and accessibility best practices. Required Qualifications : ● Active, unencumbered RN license (BSN required; MSN or higher preferred) in Canada ● Minimum of 3–5 years of clinical nursing experience ● Minimum of 3–5 years in nursing education, curriculum development, or item writing ● Strong knowledge of : ○ Nursing, Maternity, and Pediatric safety principles ○ Drug calculation concepts ○ Prelicensure nursing education standards ○ Ability to translate complex concepts into clear, student-appropriate language ○ Strong written communication and attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications : ● Prior experience as an SME or content author for nursing education products ● Experience working with instructional design teams or digital learning platforms. Work Expectations : ● Contract-based, remote position ● Adherence to project timelines and deliverables ● Participation in periodic check-ins or content reviews.
