Position Overview The Property Accountant (Commercial) is responsible for supporting the financial management of Leyad's commercial property portfolio. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role oversees day-to-day accounting activities, assists with financial reporting, and works closely with Property Managers to ensure accurate financial records. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to grow within a collaborative accounting team. Key Responsibilities Perform full-cycle accounting for an assigned portfolio of commercial properties. Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end working papers. Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Review tenant accounts, rent rolls, and operating cost recoveries for accuracy. Process CAM (Common Area Maintenance) and realty tax reconciliations. Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions. Review commercial lease agreements to ensure accurate tenant billing and rent adjustments. Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and year-end working papers. Work closely with Property Managers to resolve accounting discrepancies and answer financial inquiries. Support the year-end audit process by preparing schedules and supporting documentation. Maintain accurate financial records while ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards. Contribute to continuous improvements in accounting processes and internal controls. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 2-4 years of property accounting experience, preferably within commercial real estate. Experience with Yardi or another property management/accounting software is considered an asset. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Understanding of commercial leases and operating cost recoveries is preferred. Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
