Job summary

Company Overview LUS Brands (“Love Ur Self”) is a Toronto-based DTC (direct-to-consumer) hair care brand that’s backed by Y Combinator, Sound Ventures, Comcast and other notable VCs and angel investors. Since launching in 2017, we have shipped over 10 million bottles of our innovative hair care products to consumers with curly hair worldwide and earned thousands of 5-star reviews. Our mission is as simple as the products we create: to encourage people to genuinely love and accept themselves so that their unique beauty can shine through. At LUS, success starts with the right mindset. We’re committed to bringing on individuals who see possibilities instead of limitations. We’re looking for team members who embrace change, take ownership of their results, and view challenges as opportunities. We value resilience, self-motivation, and the determination to turn a “no” into a “not yet.” You bring energy, lead with a growth mindset, trust in your ability to create opportunities and take action to achieve your goals. If you’re passionate about sourcing and procurement, eager to learn, and driven to overcome challenges, we want to hear from you! To learn more about us, visit loveurcurls.ca About the Role LUS Brands is seeking a resourceful and commercially minded Product Sourcing & Procurement Specialist to lead the sourcing and development of packaging and product components for our Love Ur Curls® haircare line. Acting as the key liaison between Marketing, Operations and external manufacturing partners, this person will translate product and brand requirements into sourcing specifications and identify the right suppliers to bring those ideas to life. The role includes sourcing bottles, pumps, caps, labels, cartons and other packaging components; researching and qualifying overseas vendors; obtaining samples and quotations; negotiating pricing, MOQs and lead times; and managing the process through production and delivery. Alongside product and supplier sourcing, this is a hands-on role with an important operational and administrative component, including preparing and maintaining purchase orders, tracking samples and shipments, updating supplier and product records, monitoring timelines, and following up consistently to ensure accurate and on-time delivery. Responsibilities Source and purchase packaging materials including bottles, pumps, caps, labels, and boxes from both local and international (primarily China) suppliers. Manage the day-to-day procurement administration, including purchase orders, supplier documentation, pricing records, sample tracking, production timelines, shipment follow-up and internal status updates. Monitor purchasing costs, maintain accurate pricing records, and identify cost-saving opportunities. Partner closely with Marketing and Operations to understand the product vision, translate creative and functional requirements into supplier briefs, and recommend sourcing solutions that meet brand, cost, quality, and timing objectives. Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers, conducting market research (including on platforms such as Alibaba), issuing RFQs, and comparing quotes on price, quality, lead time, and reliability. Coordinate prototypes and samples, gather cross-functional feedback, communicate revisions to suppliers, and help move approved concepts into production. Negotiate pricing, payment terms, MOQs, and delivery schedules to reduce cost and manage supply risk, while maintaining strong relationships with domestic and overseas vendors. Manage purchase orders end to end — placing orders, tracking production and shipments, and coordinating with logistics and freight forwarders to ensure on-time delivery. Set and enforce packaging quality standards with suppliers, and investigate any quality or supply issues, identifying root causes and developing preventative plans. Support new product and packaging development by researching innovative formats, materials, finishes, functionality, and market trends, and proactively identifying suppliers capable of delivering against the brand vision. Act as a resourceful problem-solver when specifications, quality, cost, lead times, or supplier capabilities do not align—developing practical alternatives and driving issues through to resolution. Skills/Requirements 2–5 years of hands-on experience in product sourcing, packaging sourcing, purchasing, procurement, category management, merchandising, or product development; experience working directly with overseas manufacturers (especially China) is a strong asset. This is an in-office role located at our facility in Mississauga, ON. This is a product- and packaging-focused sourcing role—not a traditional logistics, demand-planning, or procurement-administration position. Success requires curiosity, commercial judgment, strong communication, and a genuine interest in bringing consumer-facing products to life. Degree or diploma in Supply Chain, Business, Product Development, Merchandising, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Experience sourcing products, packaging, or components within beauty, personal care, cosmetics, CPG, retail, fashion, or another consumer-focused category is strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience in supplier negotiation, cost analysis, and managing purchase orders across the procurement cycle Demonstrated ability to independently research, qualify, and develop new suppliers rather than relying solely on an established vendor network. Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office/Google G-suite products, with strong knowledge of Excel Strong analytical aptitude with excellent attention to detail Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to translate Marketing concepts into clear, actionable requirements for Operations and external suppliers. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities Commercially minded, curious, and resourceful, with an appreciation for consumer products and the ability to balance design intent with cost and manufacturing realities. Commitment to continuous improvement and excellent customer service Comfortable taking ownership and working independently in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment where processes and supplier networks are still being built. Why Join LUS Brands? Comprehensive Benefits: Receive medical and dental coverage and life insurance to ensure your health and peace of mind. We also provide an Employee Assistance Program for additional support. Future Planning: Take advantage of RRSP-matching retirement benefits to help secure your financial future.
