You will personally resolve L2/L3 escalations, deliver infrastructure projects, mentor junior technicians and provide technical leadership across our service desk. This is not a management-only position. You will spend the majority of your time engineering solutions, troubleshooting complex issues, improving client environments and completing meaningful technical work. You will also help ensure client work progresses appropriately by addressing technical blockers, monitoring stale or high-risk tickets, mentoring technicians and leading major client incidents through resolution. Responsibilities Deliver infrastructure projects from planning through completion Participate in technical design, peer review and implementation planning for complex client projects Lead major client incidents through technical resolution Resolve L2/L3 escalations across Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server and client environments Perform endpoint and server security remediation using Defender, Sophos and approved security baselines Troubleshoot Windows, application, performance and connectivity issues Troubleshoot networking including VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, NAT and firewalls Administer Windows Server, Active Directory and Group Policy Support Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Entra ID, Intune and Azure Support Hyper-V, VMware, Citrix and comparable virtualization platforms Use PowerShell and automation to improve operational efficiency Mentor junior technicians and remove technical blockers preventing ticket progress Maintain accurate documentation in IT Glue and detailed ticket notes within Autotask Communicate professionally with clients throughout incidents, escalations and projects Required Skills Previous MSP or multi-client IT support experience Microsoft 365 administration Entra ID Windows Server Active Directory Networking including VLANs, routing, switching, NAT, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls and subnetting Hyper-V, VMware, Citrix or comparable virtualization platforms Experience administering or supporting EDR and/or MDR platforms PowerShell scripting and automation experience Strong troubleshooting methodology Excellent client communication Strong technical documentation Ability to independently own issues through to resolution Must reside in Canada Quiet professional home office with reliable high-speed Internet Preferred Experience Azure or AWS networking Microsoft Intune Windows Autopilot Datto RMM Autotask PSA IT Glue Sophos Veeam Fortinet SonicWall Meraki Ubiquiti Microsoft certifications An actively maintained technical lab Technical Lab Evidence Strongly Preferred A demonstrable technical lab or test environment that you personally built, operate, understand and can demonstrate will be considered a significant asset. Candidates are encouraged to upload one document containing three to six screenshots showing: Your hypervisor or cloud console with labelled systems A VLAN, trunk, routing, firewall or other network configuration At least one server, cloud, security, monitoring, backup or infrastructure component Hyper-V, VMware, Proxmox, Azure, AWS, Sophos Firewall Home Edition, pfSense, OPNsense, GNS3, EVE-NG, Cisco Modeling Labs, Packet Tracer, Docker, Kubernetes and comparable platforms are all acceptable. Physical hardware is not required. Candidates who submit lab evidence and are shortlisted may be asked to provide a recorded walkthrough and demonstrate the same environment during a live screen-sharing session. Strong submissions typically demonstrate: Multiple VLANs and inter-VLAN routing Trunking, VPNs, firewalls and ACLs Firewall configuration (Sophos, Fortinet, pfSense, OPNsense, etc.) Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy Multiple virtual networks or simulated sites Monitoring, SIEM or centralized logging Backup and recovery testing Databases, application servers or Remote Desktop Services Azure or AWS networking PowerShell automation or Infrastructure as Code A generic lab description, basic Packet Tracer topology or a single standalone VM will carry considerably less weight than evidence of a broader environment. Visual lab evidence is strongly preferred and may be used to prioritize applications for review.
