Role Description The Greenhouse Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Burnaby, BC, responsible for supporting plant growth trials and maintaining greenhouse operations. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring plant health, preparing growing media, planting and transplanting, and maintaining irrigation systems to ensure optimal water and nutrient delivery. The role involves managing environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and lighting, as well as performing routine cleaning, pest and disease scouting, and basic equipment maintenance. The Greenhouse Technician will also assist with data collection, sample preparation, and collaboration with agronomy and research teams to support product testing and development. This position requires careful attention to safety, adherence to protocols, and consistent documentation of activities and observations. Qualifications Experience with greenhouse operations and environmental control systems; familiarity with greenhouse safety and cleanliness standards. Knowledge of botany and plant physiology; ability to assess plant health and diagnose common growth issues. Skills in plant propagation, including seeding, transplanting, and cloning or cutting techniques. Competence in irrigation setup and management, including scheduling and monitoring water and nutrient delivery. Basic laboratory skills for handling plant samples, recording measurements, and following standardized procedures. Strong attention to detail, record-keeping skills, and ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately. Capacity to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods in a greenhouse environment. Effective communication and teamwork skills; ability to collaborate with technical and research staff. Relevant education in horticulture, plant science, agriculture, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Duties The Employee will perform such duties as are consistent with the position of Greenhouse Assistant and such other duties as the Company may reasonably assign to the Employee including but not limited to: Preparing and maintaining a clean and organized greenhouse environment for conducting experiments. Assisting in the standard operating procedures for greenhouse trials. Following established protocol for planting, fertilizing, and harvesting crops. Monitoring crop conditions, plant health and reporting any concerns. Preparing fertilizer stock solution and schedule watering and fertilization events according to crop needs and in consideration of experimental designs. Collecting and recording data on crop growth and yield, fertilizer application rate and other experimental parameters. Collecting, storing, and submitting samples (water, soil, plant tissue, grain, etc.) for analysis following standard operating procedures. Assisting in the preparation of reports and presentations to summarize research findings. Maintaining an accurate record of research activities. ·Communicating with team members to ensure that experiments are conducted according to schedules and protocols. Identifying potential issues and communicating effectively with the Agronomy Team. Washing, sterilizing, sorting, and restocking used equipment according to laboratory procedures. Troubleshooting and monitoring for irregularities in seed or seedling test results, media, temperatures, equipment, and facilities
