Job details

About Luna PR Luna PR is a global, award-winning integrated communications consultancy operating at the intersection of emerging technology and modern finance. With deep roots in Web3 and capital markets, we work with disruptive companies across blockchain, artificial intelligence, fintech, robotics, tokenization, and energy infrastructure. Our clients range from high-growth startups to established enterprises, investors, governments, and major global events. The Role We are looking for an experienced Public Relations & Communications Specialist based in Toronto to join our global specialist PR team. This is a media-first, hands-on role for someone who knows what makes a story newsworthy, understands how U.S. journalists operate, and can consistently turn client developments, executive expertise, industry trends, and breaking news into meaningful media opportunities. You will work closely with Luna PR’s account and strategy teams, taking the lead on media strategy and execution across a portfolio of clients. You will be expected to understand each client’s business and competitive landscape, identify the narratives they should own, and build the media relationships required to put them into the right conversations. This role goes beyond distributing press releases. We are looking for someone who can proactively create opportunities when there is no announcement, move quickly around the news cycle, and position founders and executives as credible voices within their industries. Responsibilities Own media strategy and execution across a portfolio of U.S. and global client accounts. Develop strong relationships with journalists, editors, producers, podcasters, creators, and other influential media contacts, particularly across the United States. Consistently pitch and secure earned media opportunities, including interviews, features, commentary, podcasts, contributed articles, and expert quotes. Identify proactive story angles rather than relying solely on client announcements and press releases. Monitor breaking news, industry trends, regulatory developments, funding activity, and emerging narratives to identify opportunities for clients to join relevant conversations. Understand each client’s business, competitors, target audiences, and commercial objectives to recommend the narratives and media opportunities that matter. Develop media strategies around funding rounds, partnerships, product launches, executive appointments, research, major milestones, and other announcements. Draft and refine pitches, press releases, media briefs, executive commentary, messaging documents, talking points, bylines, and thought leadership. Build executive profiles by identifying opportunities for founders and senior leaders to establish authority around relevant industry topics. Maintain active journalist relationships through regular outreach, introductions, briefings, and relationship-building beyond individual client pitches. Support media strategy around major conferences and industry events, including identifying attending journalists, arranging interviews, and coordinating opportunities before, during, and after events. Work closely with Luna PR’s strategy and account teams to ensure media activity supports each client’s wider positioning and communications strategy. Bring new ideas to accounts proactively, from emerging narratives and media targets to creative campaigns and timely commentary opportunities. Track media activity, coverage, journalist engagement, sentiment, and results, and contribute insights to client reporting. Maintain a high standard of execution across multiple accounts while meeting deadlines and agreed deliverables. What We’re Looking For Strong experience in public relations and earned media, preferably within an agency environment. A strong understanding of the U.S. media landscape and how journalists, editors, producers, and emerging media platforms operate. A demonstrated track record of securing meaningful earned media coverage. Existing relationships with U.S. journalists and media contacts are highly valued. Strong news judgment: you can quickly identify what is genuinely newsworthy and how to create a compelling angle. Excellent writing skills and the ability to translate complex topics into clear, interesting narratives. Experience across technology, fintech, financial services, Web3, digital assets, AI, venture capital, robotics, energy infrastructure, or other disruptive technologies is highly beneficial. Comfortable working with founders, CEOs, investors, and other senior executives. Highly proactive, with a track record of creating opportunities rather than waiting for instructions or announcements. Comfortable working across several accounts and fast-moving news cycles simultaneously. Strong organization and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines. Comfortable working remotely as part of an international team and collaborating across U.S., European, Middle Eastern, and Asian time zones. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. How We Work Luna PR operates globally, and collaboration across markets is central to how we work. Your primary working hours will align with the U.S. market, primarily Eastern Time, with flexibility for occasional international client calls, major announcements, conferences, and time-sensitive media opportunities. Our specialist PR team works closely with account and strategy leads. Strategy teams oversee the broader client relationship and positioning, while specialists bring deep media expertise, journalist relationships, and execution. We expect specialists to contribute strategically while remaining highly focused on delivering media results. Please note that this position does not currently include health insurance or additional employee benefits. We are looking for someone who understands that great PR is not simply about securing coverage. It is about understanding where an industry conversation is going, positioning clients within it, and building the relationships and credibility that keep them there.
