We are looking for Highway Maintenance Driver/Labourers to join our Port Alberni team for the upcoming winter season, approximately November 2026 to April 2027. This is a seasonal/casual position. Our Highway Maintenance Driver/Labourers play an important role in supporting winter road maintenance operations throughout the Mid-Island area. Successful candidates must be available to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends and graveyard shifts, and may be required to work on-call during snow and winter weather events. What you'll do: * Operate sanding, plowing and salting trucks during winter weather events. * Assist with snow and ice control on highways and roadways * Operate and drive trucks to haul materials * Clear litter, debris and roadkill from roadways * Complete general highway maintenance activities as required * Work outdoors in changing and sometimes challenging weather conditions What you'll bring: * Valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver's licence with Air Brake Endorsement * Clean driver's abstract * Previous construction and/or highway maintenance experience is an asset * Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn quickly * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * Positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team * Strong commitment to working safely If you enjoy working outdoors, operating trucks and equipment, and being part of a team that helps keep Vancouver Island moving through the winter, we want to hear from you. Requirements
