PAY: $18-22 per hour START DATE: As soon as possible. JOB DESCRIPTION _About us:_ Maison Decision House (MDH) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1979. MDH has helped over a thousand individuals make the transition into the community by providing shelter, guidance and counselling. MDH has a FULLTIME house cook position available starting in September 2026. We are seeking a dependable and compassionate cook who is committed to preparing meals while maintaining food safety and cleanliness standards. You will be cooking for, on average, twenty people a day (numbers are subject to change). You will be preparing lunch and dinner for each resident (up to fourteen residents in-house) and lunch for staff. You are also responsible of ensuring there is breakfast food on hand for residents to serve themselves. _Responsibilities:_ · Plan, prepare and serve balanced, nutritious meals in accordance with approved menus · Accommodate dietary needs, allergies & medical restrictions · Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen in compliance with public health regulations · Monitor food inventory and purchase groceries · Ensure proper food storage, handling, and temperature control · Minimize food waste while managing portion control · Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas daily · Follow all workplace health and safety policies and procedures · Develop friendly rapport with clients _Qualifications:_ · Food Handler Certification · Previous experience as a cook in a healthcare, residential, community or institutional setting is an asset · Knowledge of safe food preparation and sanitation practices · Ability to work independently and manage time effectively · Strong organizational and communication skills · Compassionate, reliable, and committing to serving a diverse resident population · Reliable transportation (must have your own vehicle, as you will be responsible for doing groceries) _Job Type:_ full-time _Schedule: _0600-1300, Monday to Friday (70hrs/2 week period) _Work Location_: in person (located in Hintonburg, Ottawa) Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour Work Location: In person
