Full Description Position: Child Care Assistant (CCA) Department: Kookum's Place Daycare Classification: Unionized, Full Time Hourly Wage: $16.80 - $21.04 Application Deadline: Until Filled Who We Are NETES is a not-for-profit Indigenous organization supporting the success of Indigenous people in Winnipeg. We offer adult education, skills training and employment services, along with wrap-around services such as daycare, student housing, and health and wellness programming. The Opportunity Kookum’s Place is an Indigenous-led, community-centred early learning program that strives to support children and families through culturally grounded, relationship-based care. Our approach is rooted in respect, connection, and belonging, with a strong emphasis on play-based and land-based learning. We are seeking a caring, dependable, and community-minded Child Care Assistant (CCA) to support Early Childhood Educators in providing high-quality childcare and daily programming. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children’s growth and well-being in a positive and inclusive learning environment. Child Care Assistants play an important role in helping children feel safe, supported, valued, and connected while contributing to a collaborative, team-focused childcare environment. Key Responsibilities Support Early Childhood Educators in daily programming and classroom activities. Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming learning environment. Support children’s emotional, social, physical and cognitive development through play and daily activities. Assist with daily routines, including meals, snacks, rest periods, toileting and transitions. Foster positive relationships with children, families and team members. Encourage respectful interactions, communication, and social development among children. Assist with organizing learning materials, classroom set-up and activity preparation. Support culturally respectful and inclusive programming that reflects Indigenous values and ways of knowing. Participate in team meetings, training and ongoing program activities. Other duties as assigned.
