Job Description The Dispatcher role is a fast-paced, demanding position focused on planning and coordinating the pickups and deliveries for our Whitehorse service area, including surrounding rural routes. We're looking to onboard a dedicated professional to join our team and help us meet or exceed our customers' expectations. As a Dispatcher, you'll be the nerve center of our operations, ensuring smooth and efficient daily flow. Your key duties will include: Load Planning & Coordination: Planning and coordinating all terminal pickups and deliveries, including LTL load planning and city/rural route planning. Driver Supervision: Supervising City Drivers , providing direction, and delegating tasks effectively. Communication & Customer Service: Consistently answering the phone and dealing with driver requirements (e.g., hook up information, delay updates, concerns). This includes communicating effectively with internal staff and external customers. System Management: Working within the AS/400 platform to execute scheduling, track shipments for customers, and perform other necessary system tasks. Documentation & Compliance: Printing labels, adding comments to justify non-service deliveries, and ensuring proper company policy and safety guidelines are followed. Leadership & Safety: Demonstrating leadership, promoting a safety-minded culture, and assisting with appointment booking and rescheduling of priorities. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have the skills and knowledge to hit the ground running in a dynamic environment. Geographical Knowledge: Solid geographical knowledge of Whitehorse and surrounding rural areas. LTL Experience: Previous dispatch experience in an LTL environment. Route Planning Expertise: Experienced with LTL load planning and city/rural route planning. Technological Capability: Computer fluent, with the ability to understand and operate an AS/400 system and handheld devices. AS/400 experience is a strong asset; we will train the right candidate. Communication: Excellent phone and email communicator; polite, professional, and courteous in constant interaction with customers, drivers, and management. Work Ethic: Proven ability to multitask effectively and thrive in a fast-paced environment while handling shift work. Leadership: Demonstrated Team Leader capabilities and the ability to delegate effectively. Safety-minded and possess a knowledge of TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods).
