Back-end Developer, Java / React 📍 Location: Montreal, QC 🏢 Work model: Hybrid, 2 days on site per week 🌐 Languages: French required, English is an asset Position summary Our client is looking for an Intermediate Back-end Developer to contribute to the modernization of critical business platforms and the evolution of strategic application solutions. The successful candidate will work within Agile, multidisciplinary teams to develop new features, modernize service-oriented architectures, improve existing applications, and support production systems using a build it, run it approach. The role will focus approximately 80% on Java back-end development and 20% on React. Main responsibilities Design, develop, maintain, and enhance Java-based microservices, APIs, and service-oriented application architectures. Contribute to the development and integration of solutions using Spring Boot, JMS, IBM MQ, Kafka, and REST APIs. Participate in large-scale technology modernization initiatives and collaborate with architects and design teams to improve application solutions. Develop high-quality, secure, and testable software while contributing to automated testing, code reviews, and DevOps practices. Support production applications using a build it, run it approach, including troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement. Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to delivery automation, deployment pipelines, technical documentation, and knowledge sharing. Qualifications Intermediate-level experience with approximately 80% Java back-end development and 20% React. Strong hands-on expertise with Java, Spring Boot, microservices architecture, API development, and application integration. Experience with messaging and event-driven technologies such as JMS, IBM MQ, and Kafka. Good understanding of AWS Cloud, AWS EKS, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, application security, KMS, SSO, and data encryption. Proficiency with Git, Jenkins, Maven, Nexus, JUnit, automated testing, code reviews, and DevOps practices. Experience with Robot Framework, ReadyAPI, or Postman is an asset. Professional fluency in French, spoken and written, with strong collaboration, problem-solving, technological curiosity, and interest in artificial intelligence tools that accelerate software delivery. Knowledge of Jira and Confluence is considered an asset. English is not required, but it would be an advantage.
