This role requires 2 days/week on-site. ________________________________________ Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced API Developer to join our client's team on a contract basis for an initial 6-month engagement with potential extension. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of hands-on API development experience and a strong background in designing, developing, and integrating scalable API solutions within cloud-based environments. This is a hands-on development role focused on building and supporting modern API platforms. Candidates should have strong experience with Java Spring Boot, Node.js, REST APIs, containerized applications, Azure services, messaging architectures, and API management platforms. This role requires an individual contributor who can work independently in a collaborative environment — not a manager or technical lead role. The position follows a hybrid work model with 3 days per week onsite, with in-person interviews available in Toronto, Mississauga, or Burlington. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable REST APIs using Java Spring Boot and Node.js. • Build and support cloud-native applications using Azure services, Kubernetes, and Docker. • Develop and integrate API solutions using API gateways such as Kong or Azure API Management (APIM). • Implement secure identity, authentication, and secrets management practices. • Work with synchronous and asynchronous messaging architectures, including Pub/Sub patterns, Azure Service Bus, and Event Hubs. • Support application deployments and troubleshooting within containerized environments. • Apply best practices for private networking and secure cloud connectivity. ________________________________________ Required Qualifications • 8+ years of hands-on API development experience. • Strong experience with Java Spring Boot and/or Node.js. • Extensive experience developing and integrating REST APIs. • Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Docker. • Experience with API gateways such as Kong or Azure API Management. • Knowledge of messaging architectures including Pub/Sub, Azure Service Bus, and Event Hubs. • Experience with identity management and secrets management solutions. • Understanding of private networking concepts in cloud environments. ________________________________________ Compensation Salary Range: $70.00 – $90.00 per hour ________________________________________ Our recruitment process is led by human recruiters who review all applications and make the final hiring decisions.
