Educators at MathWave join a collaborative team committed to meaningful, student-centred mathematics education. Role Description This is a part-time, on-site position for a Math Teacher supporting students in Grades 1–12. The academy is conveniently located near Yonge Street and Steeles Avenue in the Greater Toronto Area and is easily accessible by public transit. We especially welcome applications from current university students and recent graduates, including students from York University and the University of Toronto, as well as candidates living or studying in North York and surrounding areas. The teacher will deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned mathematics lessons using MathWave’s structured lesson plans and teaching materials. Responsibilities include direct classroom instruction, guiding problem-solving activities, adapting explanations to different learning needs, monitoring student progress, and providing constructive feedback. Teachers will maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment, collaborate with MathWave’s academic team, contribute to student progress reporting, and communicate observations or concerns as needed. The position may also involve participation in teacher training, staff meetings, and the development or improvement of supplemental learning resources. Teaching hours are primarily during weekday afternoons and evenings and on weekends. Qualifications Strong subject-matter knowledge in mathematics, with the ability to teach one or more grade ranges from Grades 1–12. Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Science, Education, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly, accurately, patiently, and in an age-appropriate manner. Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and classroom-management skills. A dependable, professional, and student-centred approach to teaching. Ability to work effectively with different grade levels, learning styles, and academic abilities. Comfort using technology and digital tools to support instruction and student learning. Availability during weekday afternoons/evenings and/or weekends. Previous experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or working with school-age students is an asset. Familiarity with the Ontario mathematics curriculum is an asset. Teaching certification is an asset but is not required.
