High School English Tutor (Grades 8–12)

English Tutor – High School MathWorld Tutoring is looking for a knowledgeable, reliable, and engaging High School English Tutor to join our tutoring team. The successful candidate will work with students in Grades 8–12, helping them strengthen their English skills, improve their academic performance, and develop confidence in reading, writing, and literary analysis. Responsibilities: Tutor students in Grade 8–12 English following the BC Curriculum Support students with essay writing, paragraph structure, grammar, reading comprehension, literary analysis, and other course material Clearly explain concepts and provide constructive feedback on student work Help students prepare for assignments, assessments, and exams Adapt teaching methods to meet different student learning needs Maintain a professional, patient, and encouraging learning environment Communicate with MathWorld Tutoring regarding student progress when required Qualifications: Strong knowledge of high-school English, particularly English 10–12 Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong understanding of academic essay writing, grammar, literature, and reading comprehension Previous tutoring or teaching experience is preferred Current university students and university graduates are welcome to apply Education or academic experience in English, Education, Humanities, or a related field is considered an asset Must be dependable, organized, and comfortable working with high-school students Position Details: Part-time tutoring position Primarily online/hybrid Students are generally taught in small-group or individual settings Hours may vary depending on student enrollment and scheduling Evening and/or weekend availability may be required About MathWorld Tutoring MathWorld Tutoring provides K–12 academic support to students following the BC Curriculum. We focus on providing clear, structured instruction while helping students build both their understanding of course material and their academic confidence. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys teaching and can make English approachable and understandable for high-school students.

Tutor students in grades 8-12 following the BC Curriculum, focusing on essay writing, grammar, and literary analysis. Provide constructive feedback and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student learning needs.

Candidates should have strong knowledge of high school English and excellent communication skills. Previous tutoring experience and a degree or academic background in English, Education, or Humanities are preferred.
