Journeyman Welders – Short-Term Steel Fabrication Project Openings: 2 Duration: Approximately two weeks Anticipated Start: Within the next one to two weeks, subject to material arrival and site readiness Location: Nunavut Looking for your next welding project? Matrix Camps, Logistics & Aviation is hiring two Journeyman Welders for an approximately two-week container reinforcement assignment. If you’re between contracts or looking for short-term work that puts your fabrication and fit-up skills to use, we’d like to hear from you. You’ll work alongside another Journeyman Welder to reinforce three 40-foot open-top shipping containers with 6-inch and 3-inch C-channel steel, following Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings. This is a hands-on project where careful layout, accurate fit-up and quality welding will directly contribute to the finished installation. With steel ordered in pre-cut lengths and operator support available where required, you’ll have a defined scope of work and support for positioning materials. We’re looking for welders who take pride in their workmanship, communicate well and can keep the job moving safely. Key Responsibilities Review and interpret IFC drawings to plan reinforcement locations and installation requirements. Prepare container surfaces and steel components for clean, accurate fit-up and welding. Position, fit and weld pre-cut C-channel reinforcement according to project drawings. Verify measurements, alignment and component orientation before completing welds. Inspect completed work and address deficiencies to meet project quality requirements. Work with your welding partner and equipment operators to coordinate installation and safely position materials. Follow site safety procedures, including hot-work requirements, and maintain a clean, organized work area. Qualifications Valid Journeyman Welder certification. Hands-on experience in steel fabrication, fit-up and welding. Ability to confidently read and interpret construction drawings. Strong attention to measurements, alignment and weld quality. Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with another welder and the site team. Ability to perform the physical duties associated with on-site welding and installation. Availability to deploy within the next one to two weeks and complete an approximately two-week assignment. Interested and available? Apply with your current résumé and earliest available start date. Matrix: Our work begins where the road ends.
