Heavy-Duty Mechanic (Journeyman/Red Seal) | Remote Nunavut | 3/3 Fly-In Fly-Out MATRIX is seeking an experienced, safety-focused Heavy-Duty Mechanic (Journeyperson/Red Seal) to support ongoing maintenance and repairs of our heavy equipment at a remote Nunavut camp. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role in a demanding environment—ideal for a team-oriented technician with strong attention to detail. If you have CAT equipment experience and are proficient with CAT ET and SIS, we want to hear from you. Position Details Location: Remote camp in Nunavut Schedule: Fly-In Fly-Out Rotation: 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off Working Environment: Onsite with the Maintenance Team (remote shop conditions) Key Responsibilities Keep equipment operating by completing preventive maintenance schedules Install component/part upgrades, manage and control corrosion, and complete winterization procedures Correct equipment deficiencies through: removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, disassembling/assembling replacing major assemblies, components, parts electrical repair, adjustments, and alignments (including bearing loads and gear tooth contact) valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages clutches, traction units, and more Familiar with and able to work on: Loaders, Dozers, Excavators, Graders, SnowCats Light and heavy-duty trucks Verify vehicle performance through test drives; adjust controls and systems as required Maintain vehicle appearance by cleaning and washing Maintain service and repair records by documenting work completed Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs Willing to work in remote sites outside of a typical shop Arctic experience is an asset Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt Facilitate and/or participate in daily toolbox meetings Ensure work environment meets corporate safety practices Report unsafe conditions to the immediate supervisor Requirements Licensing & Certifications (Required): Interprovincial Red Seal / Journeyperson Certified Heavy-Duty Mechanic (required) Experience: 3–5 years of relevant heavy-duty mechanics experience CAT equipment experience required Experience with mining equipment and knowledge of hydraulic systems preferred Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work in both team settings and independently Commitment to safety and a drug-free workplace What We Offer Competitive wages and paid travel days Health & Dental Benefits Fly-In Fly-Out 3/3 rotations Paid flights, hotels, baggage, and meal per diems Onsite tools provided MATRIX branded winter work gear provided
