Job details

Sales Representative — Mining & Mineral Processing Territory: Manitoba to British Columbia Role Outside sales role covering operating mines, mills, and mineral-processing plants from Manitoba through Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia. The job is to find and grow accounts that run thickeners, clarifiers, vacuum or disc filters, and related concentrate or tailings dewatering equipment, and to sell McFarlen media, spare parts, and reliability support into those circuits. What you will do Build and work a territory list of operating copper, gold, coal, potash, uranium, industrial-mineral, and oil-sands plants that have thickeners or disc / vacuum filtration. Call on mill superintendents, maintenance planners, reliability engineers, and procurement. First conversations are technical: cloth style, sector condition, thickener drive and rake wear, shutdown windows — not a generic catalogue pitch. Qualify equipment before quoting. Confirm whether a site is still on disc filters, has moved to pressure filters, or only has a water-treatment discfilter. Do not quote media against an unconfirmed machine. Prepare site-specific quotes for filter cloth, sectors, and related filtration parts, and support thickener reliability items where McFarlen supplies them. Track shutdown calendars (mill relines, turnarounds, annual outages) and time proposals to those windows. Keep CRM notes current: equipment confirmed on site, OEM if known, cloth or sector style, contact path, and next action. Coordinate with inside sales, engineering, and the shop on lead times, customs, and delivery into remote plants. Travel the territory. Expect regular trips to the BC interior, oil sands, and Saskatchewan potash and uranium mills, plus Winnipeg-area industrial accounts as they fit. Territory Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia. Base can be in BC or Alberta. Coverage is field-based; this is not a desk role. What we sell into Rotary vacuum disc filters (cloth and sectors), disc media where specified, concentrate and tailings dewatering circuits, and thickener reliability support. Typical commodities: copper-gold, metallurgical coal, potash, uranium, and oil sands. Requirements Experience selling into operating mines or mills, or equivalent time in mill maintenance, reliability, or mineral processing. Comfort reading a flowsheet and talking cloth, cake moisture, underflow density, and shutdown scope with a mill superintendent. Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel, including fly-in or remote sites. Based in Western Canada, or willing to relocate into the territory. Useful, not required Existing relationships at BC copper mills, Elk Valley coal, Saskatchewan potash or uranium mills, or Fort McMurray oil sands. Familiarity with disc-filter OEMs (Eimco, Dorr-Oliver, Andritz, Metso, FLSmidth, Larox) and thickener drives. How success is measured Qualified mining accounts opened, quotes tied to a confirmed machine, orders shipped against shutdowns, and repeat business on cloth and parts. Activity without a confirmed equipment fit does not count.
