The Department of Human Genetics is seeking a highly motivated and accomplished Research Associate to contribute to a dynamic research program focused on hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD). Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the successful candidate will provide scientific leadership, support the development and implementation of research initiatives, and contribute to the advancement of human genetics and genetic epidemiology research. Position Summary The Research Associate will play a key role in the planning, coordination, execution, and dissemination of research activities. The incumbent will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, contribute to the development of innovative research approaches, support funding initiatives, and mentor students and research personnel. Key Responsibilities Develops and conducts research projects, studies, and related activities in accordance with established research objectives, protocols, and procedures. Establishes the design and development of research methodologies, data collection strategies, and research plans to support investigations in human genetics, hEDS, and related health conditions. Plans and leads the implementation of research activities, including study coordination, participant recruitment initiatives, research documentation, and project execution. Develops and implements new approaches to support research analysis, knowledge generation, and scientific inquiry. Leads the analysis and interpretation of research findings and disseminates results through presentations, reports, scholarly publications, and other research-related activities. Writes theoretical and methodological reports, manuscripts, and scholarly articles arising from research activities. Prepares and writes grant applications, funding proposals, progress reports, and other documents supporting research programs and initiatives. Organizes, distributes, and verifies the work of research staff, trainees, and students involved in research projects and contributes to their training, guidance, and supervision. Coordinates and supports collaborations with researchers, clinical partners, funding agencies, patient organizations, and other stakeholders to advance research objectives. Performs various administrative tasks related to research projects, including monitoring timelines, maintaining research records, supporting compliance activities, and assisting with resource planning. Qualifications and Experience Education PhD, MD, or an equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field. Experience and Skills Demonstrated expertise in the design, execution, and analysis of genetic epidemiology studies. Proven experience leading complex multidisciplinary research teams and successfully delivering human genetics research projects. Has at least five (5) years of relevant experience related to the research project; significant academic research experience may be deemed equivalent. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment. Experience in genetic analyses of complex traits related to hEDS/HSD is considered an asset. Demonstrated ability to prepare scientific publications and competitive research funding applications. Language requirement: Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #4 (qualifier) on a scale of 0-4. The Research Associate will lead the planning, execution, and dissemination of research initiatives focused on hEDS and HSD. They will also manage multidisciplinary teams, oversee data collection, and prepare grant applications and scholarly publications.

Candidates must hold a PhD, MD, or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field. A minimum of five years of experience in genetic epidemiology and leading complex research teams is required.
