Job summary
Position Overview We are looking for a senior-level engineer with strong expertise in power system protection and control to support the development of advanced protection, automation, and grid technologies. You will help shape product functionality, develop and validate protection algorithms, evaluate new technologies, and provide technical direction to other engineers. Key Responsibilities Develop and validate protection and control algorithms for advanced grid applications. Define technical requirements and translate customer and market needs into product solutions. Perform modeling, simulation, and system studies to evaluate new concepts and designs. Apply model-based design techniques using MATLAB/Simulink and related development tools. Provide technical leadership across product development, testing, troubleshooting, and field applications. Support new product development from early concept through validation and release. Mentor engineers and provide guidance on protection, controls, modeling, and application engineering. Stay current with emerging trends in digital substations, grid modernization, automation, and communications. Engage with customers, utilities, and internal teams on complex technical topics. Contribute to technical publications, industry presentations, intellectual property, and training initiatives. Qualifications Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field. 5+ years of professional experience in protection and control engineering. Strong knowledge of protection principles, relay algorithms, automation, and power system behavior. Experience developing or specifying protection and control algorithms or embedded applications. Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and experience with simulation platforms such as RTDS, PSCAD, EMTP/ATP, or similar tools. Understanding of utility protection practices and relevant industry standards. Familiarity with substation communication protocols such as IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, and related Ethernet or serial-based technologies. Strong technical communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
