POSITION TITLE: Health Policy Coordinator DEPARTMENT: Health, Mental Health & Addictions CLASSIFICATION: MG0-06 SALARY RANGE: Starting at $68,979.00 Per Annum POSITION TYPE: Full-Time, Term (Until March 31, 2030) LOCATION: Saskatoon (travel required within Saskatchewan) ACCOUNTABLE TO: Health Promotion Manager BRIEF OVERVIEW MÉTIS NATION–SASKATCHEWAN (MN–S) IS SEEKING A SKILLED AND PASSIONATE HEALTH POLICY COORDINATOR TO SUPPORT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE HARDY SETTLEMENT PROJECT AND ADVANCE CULTURALLY SAFE, TRAUMA-INFORMED APPROACHES ACROSS HEALTHCARE AND COMMUNITY SYSTEMS IN SASKATCHEWAN. On June 24, 2025, the Federal Court of Canada approved the Federal Indian Hospitals (Hardy) Settlement Agreement. Through federal funding, MN–S is leading initiatives to enhance access to trauma-informed, culturally safe, and Métis-specific emotional and cultural supports for Class Members of the Hardy Settlement and Métis citizens. As a key member of the project team, the Health Policy Coordinator will lead the research, development, implementation, and evaluation of Métis-distinct cultural safety resources, frameworks, and policy initiatives. This position will play a central role in driving system-level change by helping develop a Cultural Safety Framework that informs and strengthens healthcare practices and service delivery throughout Saskatchewan. This role is ideal for an individual with strong research and policy expertise who is committed to advancing Indigenous health equity, fostering reconciliation, and promoting culturally safe systems of care. Key Responsibilities Policy Development & Research * Lead the development of Métis-distinct cultural safety, trauma-informed practice, and health equity frameworks, tools, and resources. * Conduct environmental scans, jurisdictional reviews, literature reviews, and policy analyses to inform program and framework development. * Identify emerging trends, promising practices, and opportunities for system improvement related to Indigenous health and cultural safety. * Develop evidence-based recommendations that support culturally responsive healthcare and community services. Framework Development & Knowledge Mobilization * Create educational resources, implementation guides, toolkits, reports, and other knowledge of products to support cultural safety initiatives. * Support the implementation and integration of cultural safety principles across MN–S programs, services, and partnerships. * Contribute to the design and enhancement of Métis-specific approaches that reflect community priorities and lived experiences. * Translate research findings into accessible and actionable resources for a variety of audiences. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration * Coordinate engagement activities with Métis citizens, communities, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, healthcare partners, government representatives, and other stakeholders. * Facilitate consultations, workshops, focus groups, and knowledge-sharing opportunities. * Foster collaborative relationships that support project objectives and meaningful community engagement. * Ensure citizen and community perspectives are reflected in policy, framework, and resource development. * Other duties as assigned. Evaluation, Reporting & Project Coordination * Support evaluation planning, performance measurement, and continuous quality improvement activities. * Draft briefing notes, presentations, reports, strategic recommendations, and funding-related documentation. * Maintain project documentation, work plans, and reporting requirements in accordance with project objectives and funder expectations. * Assist in monitoring project outcomes and identifying opportunities for ongoing growth and impact. * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications * Post-secondary education in Public Health, Indigenous Studies, Policy Studies, Sociology, Social Sciences, Health Administration, Community Development, or a related discipline. * An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered. * Experience in research, policy analysis, framework development, strategic planning, program evaluation, or knowledge mobilization is strongly preferred. * Experience working with Indigenous communities, governments, organizations, or health systems is considered a significant asset. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities * Strong understanding of Indigenous health, cultural safety, trauma-informed practice, health equity, and distinctions-based approaches. * Knowledge of Métis history, governance, culture, rights, and contemporary health priorities. * Exceptional research, critical thinking, analytical, and synthesis skills. * Demonstrated ability to develop policies, frameworks, reports, and strategic recommendations. * Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills. * Strong project management, organizational, and time-management abilities. * Skilled in facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and relationship building. * Ability to translate complex information into practical, accessible, and user-friendly resources. * Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment. Additional Requirements * Must have a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s License and willingness to travel throughout Saskatchewan as required on a monthly basis. * Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check prior to employment. * Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to support community engagement and project activities. * Please submit your application by 9:59 PM on September 29, 2026.
