Director of Finance & Administration Groundswell Food Group, Inc. (DBA Mitsoh) Location: Remote Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) About Mitsoh Mitsoh is building a new generation of clean-protein foods rooted in tradition and made for modern lifestyles. Our products are crafted with a focus on high-quality ingredients, nutritional integrity, and responsible sourcing. As a rapidly growing CPG food company, we operate with world-class manufacturing and food safety standards aligned with GFSI-recognized programs. We are seeking a hands-on and strategic Director of Finance & Administration to build the financial infrastructure, controls, and administrative systems required to scale Mitsoh into a world-class food manufacturing company and consumer brand. Position Overview The Director of Finance & Administration is responsible for leading Mitsoh’s finance, accounting, and administrative functions, including financial reporting, planning and analysis, product costing, cash management, HR and payroll administration, and business systems. Reporting to the CEO and leading a small team, this role partners closely with operations, supply chain, and commercial teams to drive margin visibility, cost discipline, and data-driven decision-making across both the manufacturing and brand sides of the business. This is a builder’s role — equally comfortable setting strategy with leadership and rolling up sleeves to close the month. Key Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Reporting Own the full accounting cycle, including month-end close, reconciliations, and preparation of accurate, timely financial statements Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, chart of accounts, and financial controls as the company scales Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, collections, and customer/vendor account reconciliation Oversee inventory accounting, including raw materials, WIP, finished goods, and reconciliation of physical counts to system records Manage external accountant, audit, and tax relationships, including year-end preparation and regulatory filings Financial Planning & Analysis Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and scenario planning aligned with company growth objectives Deliver monthly reporting packages with variance analysis and plain-language commentary for leadership and the board Build KPI dashboards and reporting across revenue, margin, cash, and operational performance Provide financial modeling and analysis to support pricing, capital investment, and growth decisions Product Costing & Margin Management Own standard costing for manufactured products, including BOMs, yields, labor, and overhead absorption Analyze cost variances between standard and actual production performance and drive corrective visibility Deliver margin analysis by product, channel, and customer across DTC, retail, and distributor networks Partner with operations and supply chain on COGS reduction, waste, and yield improvement initiatives Revenue, Trade & Channel Finance Manage revenue recognition and channel-specific billing across DTC, retail, and distributor accounts Track and validate trade spend, promotions, chargebacks, and distributor deductions Support commercial teams with customer profitability analysis and pricing guidance Monitor and reconcile e-commerce platform payouts, fees, and settlements Cash Management & Treasury Own cash flow forecasting and working capital management, including inventory, receivables, and payables cycles Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, and financing arrangements Support capital raising, government funding programs, and grant applications as required Ensure disciplined spend management and approval controls across the organization HR & Payroll Administration Administer payroll, group benefits, and related remittances and filings Oversee employee onboarding, offboarding, records, and HR policy administration Ensure compliance with employment standards and related regulatory requirements Support leadership on compensation planning and people-related processes as the team grows Business Systems & IT Administration Own the company’s ERP and financial systems, ensuring data integrity and effective integration across order management, inventory, and accounting Manage software subscriptions, IT vendors, and technology spend Drive automation and process improvement across finance and administrative workflows Support the selection and implementation of new systems as the company scales Leadership & Team Development Build, lead, and develop the finance and administration team Establish clear processes, documentation, and cross-training across the function Serve as a trusted business partner to the CEO and leadership team Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement Qualifications CPA designation required 8–10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including leadership roles within a CPG food or beverage manufacturing environment Strong experience with product costing, inventory accounting, and manufacturing finance Experience across DTC, retail, and distributor channels, including trade spend and deduction management Proven track record leading budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for a growing company Experience administering payroll, benefits, and HR processes in a small-to-mid-size company Strong ERP and systems experience, including implementations or integrations Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills Core Competencies Financial leadership and business partnership Manufacturing costing and margin management Planning, forecasting, and analysis Cash and working capital management Controls, compliance, and accuracy Systems and process improvement Team building and development Clear communication with financial and non-financial audiences Additional Information This is a remote role. Periodic travel to Mitsoh’s Leduc, Alberta facility and operational partners may be required for planning cycles, inventory counts, and leadership meetings.
