The firm focuses on supporting professionals, entrepreneurs, and small to medium-sized business owners with accurate financial reporting and practical tax solutions. Role Description The Staff Accountant role is a part-time hybrid position based in Richmond Hill and/or Toronto locations, with flexibility for some work-from-home arrangements. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing journal entries, maintaining general ledger accounts, and assisting with monthly and year-end closing activities. The role involves preparing financial statements, tax return preparation, and reconciling bank and other balance sheet accounts. The Staff Accountant will help manage bookkeeping tasks for client files, review supporting documentation, and ensure compliance with relevant accounting and tax standards. This position also supports senior team members with ad hoc analyses, client inquiries, and process improvements. Qualifications A minimum of 3 years experience in an CPA firm preparing compilations (CSRS 4200) and corporate tax returns is required Strong accounting fundamentals, including knowledge of general ledger, financial statements, and basic tax concepts. Proficiency with accounting and bookkeeping software (e.g., QuickBooks, or similar) and solid Excel skills. Attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and strong organizational and time-management abilities. Clear written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients. Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment, handling multiple client files and meeting deadlines. Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; progress toward a professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA) is an asset. Commitment to ethical conduct, confidentiality, and continuous professional learning.
