You will emphasize data science and AI, focusing on developing, validating, and deploying models to solve complex business problems. A strong foundation in working with data is important, but the primary focus is on analytical rigor, experimentation, and delivering actionable insights. Location: You will be based in our Toronto office, balancing in-office collaboration with remote flexibility. Reporting Relationship: You will report to the Manager, Data Science. Posting Type: Replacement Position. Salary Range: The expected base salary range for this role is $128,000 - $154,000. Total compensation may also include variable or discretionary incentive components, including but not limited to bonuses and commissions. Your Moneris Career - What you'll do Develop and deploy machine learning models to solve complex business problems, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with strategic goals. Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to extract insights, forecast outcomes, and support decision-making across the organization. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to uphold best practices in code quality, documentation, testing, and reproducibility. Explore and implement the latest AI approaches, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and multimodal Large Language Models (LLMs), to address new challenges. Work with platform such as Databricks and Snowflake, using Python, PySpark and SQL to conduct advanced data analysis and support model development and deployment. Evaluate new methodologies and technologies to enhance modeling capabilities and stay ahead of industry trends. Partner with developers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to embed insights into enterprise workflows and lead data-informed decisions. Demonstrate intellectual curiosity and a desire to understand the data, uncover patterns, and identify opportunities for innovation. Learn new tools, techniques, and business domains to adapt to evolving priorities and bring high-impact solutions. Your Moneris Career - What you bring Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience in a technology or business environment. Minimum of 5 years of experience in data science and machine learning; advanced analytics experience is a PLUS. Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with demonstrated experience building and deploying models in production environments. Hands-on experience with Snowflake and Databricks for data exploration, feature engineering, and model deployment. Proficient in multiple programming languages and comfortable writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience working with complex datasets to uncover insights and drive decisions. Demonstrated ability to lead data science projects, communicate findings effectively to technical and non-technical audiences, and influence results. Experience with data governance practices and maintaining high standards of documentation for reproducibility and collaboration. Fast learner with a deep curiosity about data, eager to explore new techniques and technologies to improve model performance and growth. Experience in the payments or financial industry is preferred. Familiar with version control (e.g. Git), CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing (unit, functional, performance) a PLUS.
