Job summary

Controls engineers are responsible for designing, developing, installing, and managing and maintaining control software for automated machines and processes. Essential Functions Specify and design the control systems for various automated and semi-automated machines. Develop and validate modular, well-documented code required to implement the same. Test, maintain and modify new and existing systems. Control Panel design, product selection and check out. Define, develop and implement programs (ladder logic) for programmable logic controllers (PLC) primarily from Rockwell. HMI application and screen development and implementation. Testing and on-site commissioning and qualification of control systems including support of process control clients. Determine the proper analytical system integration solution for the application – as defined by the project quotation, budget, customer specifications, customer data sheets. System start-up and support. Development of operation and maintenance manuals. Provide support to project management, materials personnel, and craftsman throughout the phases of each project assigned and finalize design documentation to represent “as built” condition. Requirements Bachelors or four-year degree equivalent in Engineering or 5 years of related experience. Bachelor of Electrical or mechanical engineering is preferred. Ability to apply sound engineering solutions while considering budget, schedule, and operational performance. Ability to read process diagrams, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics. An understanding of how things work mechanically and electrically as well as the ability to learn new manufacturing processes. Computer proficient with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. AutoCAD, HMI, PLC, SCADA experience preferred. Understanding of the National Electric Code and UL 508A. Must possess excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, written and communication skills. Ability to apply sound engineering solutions while considering budget, schedule, and operational performance. Ability to read process diagrams, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.
