As our shop grows, we’re looking for 1st Year Apprentices through to Journeyman Welders to join our team and grow with us. Whether you’re early in your welding career or an experienced Journeyman, this is an opportunity to grow your skills and gain experience with new technology in a modernizing fabrication shop. Responsibilities Perform welding and fabrication of structural steel, agricultural equipment, and custom metal products using GMAW, GTAW, and SMAW processes. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to complete quality work. Inspect, grind, and finish welds to meet company quality standards. Safely operate shop equipment, hand tools, and overhead cranes. Accurately complete production documentation and maintain a clean, safe work area. Work collaboratively to meet demanding production schedules. This job description is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties. You may perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization. Requirements/Qualifications We’re looking for welders at all levels who are ready to grow with us. Current CWB certification (Flat Solid Wire & Metal Core). Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools accurately. Knowledge of welding processes, materials, and metal fabrication. Detail-oriented with pride in producing quality workmanship. Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Effective English communication skills (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding work instructions). Legally eligible to work in Canada. LMIA sponsorship is not available. Based in the Ponoka / Central Alberta Area or willing to relocate. Assets Previous experience in automated equipment or robotic welding systems. Experience and comfortable operating overhead cranes. Willingness to learn and work with new technology, equipment, and automation. Schedule Day Shift (currently 6:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) 8–12 hour shifts, depending on production requirements OR Night Shift (currently 4:00 p.m. – 3:00/ 4:00 a.m.) 8–12 hour shifts, depending on production requirements What Morskate Manufacturing Offers Permanent, full-time, year-round employment. Requirements
