Dexter Construction Company is a large, diversified Construction Company engaged in all major aspects of the heavy civil construction industry within the Atlantic Provinces. We are currently looking for a Equipment Operators to join our operations out of Wolfville, NS. This position will be based out of Wolfville, but may involve travel to other parts of the province as the need arises. Job Summary Equipment Operators are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of highway and other paving operations. Primary Duties And Responsibilities Ability to operate various equipment such as Rollers, Planers, Skid steer, Backhoe and Grader’s Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor; Be aware of surroundings at all times; Maintain a clean job site, and equipment in order to eliminate potential hazards; Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task; Ensure safety of fellow employees; Perform other duties as assigned; Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, And Experience 2 years’ experience operating various equipment in a construction environment; Valid driver’s license in good standing; Willingness to work in a team environment; sometime long hours are required Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner; Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that projects are completed properly; Working safely is a condition of employment. Working Conditions The Equipment Operator’s role may include physically strenuous activities. The Equipment Operator’s will be lifting, pulling and managing heavy equipment and objects. The Equipment Operator’s will require the use of PPE, Hardhat, Steel Toe Boots, and reflective vest to minimize risk on the worksite. The worksite environment for this position is outside in varying weather conditions.
