To learn more about Musqueam, please visit www.musqueam.bc.ca Position Summary The Marine Management Analyst provides technical support to the Environmental Stewardship Department (ESD), and as directed, to other departments within the Title & Rights Division such as the Fisheries Department, Intergovernmental Affairs Department, and Lands Governance Department. The Marine Management Analyst will report directly to the ESD Manager, and duties will involve working with other Marine Management and ESD staff. This position works closely with Environmental/Musqueam staff and other parties to implement Musqueam’s environmental stewardship plans, programs and communications, which will include collaboration with partners, and engagement with community and Musqueam leadership. Roles & Responsibilities Reviews and analyses marine/estuarine aspects of referrals and proposed projects and plans. Conducts research, analysis, and provides support for negotiations in conjunction with proponents and other parties. Works closely with Musqueam Indian Band (MIB) technical staff to ensure leadership and community members are engaged in, and informed about, environmental and stewardship projects. Assists in drafting various agreements with external partners, and other management plans or professional documents. Assists in preparing briefing notes, internal/external reports, summaries, discussion papers, factsheets, and other support-related material. Assists with writing and implementing environmental and stewardship plans to ensure alignment with other MIB initiatives and plans. Organizes and maintains datasets, conducts statistical analyses, and produces figures. Organizes community engagement sessions, including preparing presentation materials and newsletters. Organizes educational activities for Musqueam community, scholastic and neighboring community groups. Participates in conferences and internal/external meetings. Reports on and plans environmental stewardship projects (work plans, budgets, implementing strategies, etc.) in coordination with other team members and/or departments. Other related duties as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities University degree in marine/aquatic sciences or a related field (environmental sciences and/or political sciences) and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of one year’s experience in marine management/policy/planning or similar, including experience working with committee and/or Council structures. Experience working for or with First Nations is an asset. Proven experience working in and with marine/environmental legislation, regulations, and policies. Experience working on marine/estuarine development projects. Environmental monitoring experience is an asset. Strong understanding of Indigenous history, politics and law in British Columbia; cultural competency and knowledge of Musqueam cultural traditions and interests is preferred. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Software, Adobe Acrobat. Exemplary oral and written communication skills in presenting clear and concise findings for decision makers and writing a variety of proposals, policy and procedure drafts, reports, and other documentation. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and consensus-building skills with the ability to work under pressure and independently within a team environment. Exceptional interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to establish and maintain successful and effective relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts. Ability to use tact and good judgement in dealing with sensitive and complex issues. Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and handle shifting priorities to produce results within deadlines. Proven ability to maintain confidentiality at all times. Valid Driver’s License. Criminal Record Check. Requirements

Candidates must hold a university degree in marine, aquatic, or environmental sciences and have at least one year of experience in marine management or policy.
