Staff Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer We are seeking a Staff Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer to design, develop, and test mission-critical firmware components for advanced embedded optical systems. This is a one-year contract based in Ottawa, Ontario. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, code, and test software for next-generation embedded optical platforms. Review, analyze, and refine software requirements for multiple features. Propose and finalize software designs that can be translated into maintainable code. Develop and test code that meets specifications. Work deeply with RTOS or embedded Linux concepts, including interrupts, device drivers, memory management, and multithreading. Review test plans and recommend test cases for developed code. Debug and resolve complex issues reported by test teams and customers. Apply object-oriented design principles and design patterns to feature development. Skills & Experience BS/MS in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with embedded software development experience. Minimum 8 years of experience in embedded systems design and development. Excellent object-oriented design and expert C++ programming skills. Deep understanding of multithreaded software systems and operating-system concepts. Knowledge of at least one scripting language; Python preferred. Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills. Experience with version control such as GIT and bug tracking tools such as JIRA. Experience with optical devices, OTN, CMIS, DSP/line configuration, alarms, or coherent systems is an asset. ,

Requirements
Requires a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, electronics, electrical engineering, or a related field, along with at least eight years of embedded systems development experience. Candidates should have expert C++ and object-oriented design skills, strong knowledge of multithreaded systems and operating-system concepts, scripting experience, and familiarity with Git and JIRA.
