Software Engineer Senior Specialist

As a Software Engineer, Senior Specialist reporting to AVP, Software Engineering, you'll play a critical role in designing and delivering high-performance, low-latency back-end solutions that power Nasdaq's North American and European markets. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Design, develop, and maintain low-latency, real-time back-end applications that support critical equities and options market infrastructure. * Own the full software development lifecycle — from requirements and design through testing, deployment, and production support. * Partner with product managers and cross-functional teams globally to translate business needs into reliable, high-quality software solutions. * Conduct code reviews and contribute to design discussions, upholding engineering standards and best practices. * Document software functionality and support ongoing maintenance to ensure system stability and performance. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. * 8+ years of experience as a back-end software engineer, with strong proficiency in Java and Springboot. * Solid experience with RESTful APIs, relational databases, and microservices architecture. * Familiarity with build, version control, and continuous integration and delivery practices. * Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a dynamic, production environment. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience with Kotlin or other JVM-based languages. * Background in cloud infrastructure or container-based deployment environments. * Prior exposure to financial markets, fintech, or regulated technology environments. This position will be located in Toronto and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 3 days a week in-office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates. The base pay range for this role is $104,000 - $148,000. In addition to base salary, Nasdaq provides a generous annual bonus/commission (short-term incentive), and equity (long-term incentive), comprehensive benefits, and opportunity for growth. Exact compensation may vary based on several job-related factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, experience, education/training, business needs and market demands.
