Job summary
A career as a Legal Counsel in the NBI Legal and Regulatory Affairs team at National Bank means acting as a securities law specialist to support the design, management, and distribution of investment products. This role allows you to make a tangible impact on our organization through your legal expertise, knowledge of the regulatory environment, and experience supporting business partners on strategic matters. Your Role Anticipate and analyze business issues to identify the needs of internal partners and develop legal strategies tailored to investment activities. Draft, review, and interpret regulatory and commercial documents, including prospectuses, offering memoranda, portfolio management agreements, and other related documentation. Provide legal opinions in securities law and support stakeholders in the management of complex legal matters. Contribute to the development of new products as well as the evolution of policies, standards, and processes governing investment products. Identify legal and reputational risks and recommend proactive solutions to mitigate them. Act as a subject matter expert in your area of specialization and contribute to the continuous improvement of legal practices within the sector. Requirements Hold a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. or J.D.) and have a minimum of one year of relevant experience. Be a member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec, the Law Society of Ontario, or the Chambre des notaires du Québec. Demonstrate experience in securities law, investment products, or a related field. Have experience drafting, reviewing, and interpreting regulatory and commercial documents. Demonstrate knowledge of the regulations applicable to investment products or a strong interest in developing this expertise.
