Job summary

POSITION OVERVIEW : Navacord Corp. is seeking a VP of Construction to build and support the strategic direction of our National Construction Practice in collaboration with the Construction practice leaders in our local Broker Partners. We are seeking a technical expert in Construction Insurance and Surety to further enhance the Navacord Construction value proposition and help shape the national business and talent development strategy of Navacord’s Construction practice, foster strong relationships with our carriers, provide sales support to our advisors on new large opportunities and lead our Construction Committee. The successful candidate will be collaborative, able to travel, enjoy problem solving in an entrepreneurial environment, and have previous experience implementing value-oriented initiatives within a group. RESPONSIBILITIES: Build a construction community across Navacord by leading regular monthly meetings with construction practice leaders across Canada and function as the Chairman of our Construction Committee Collaborate with our Marketing Team to generate valuable thought leadership material for our Broker Partners through a variety of communication methods including social media, targeted marketing material, etc. Drive ongoing construction practice value proposition enhancement through innovation, new products and services, promotion of best practices, and strong change management leadership (lead by example, get involved, mobilize) Support business development efforts across all our National Broker Partners, which could involve meeting with key clients, joining various associations, and participating in conferences Support Construction practice talent recruitment across Navacord Provide leadership, mentorship and support to our Broker Partners to support the growth and development of their individual construction and surety segments Coordinate a continuous review of performance indicators related to the operations of the entire construction practice Be a resource to our Broker Partners when needed Establish and maintain excellent relationships with the underwriting community, and participate in market negotiations, with a focus on Construction specialty markets Additional tasks: Manage end-user relationships accordingly throughout project lifecycles. Increase the number of white papers/ thought leadership pieces generated across Navacord Maintain strong relationships with all insurance markets and prioritize efficiency and growth in these interactions Educate junior individuals in the business on technical Construction and Surety knowledge through facilitating learning and development sessions Leverage our client management system to build a database of construction clients across Canada and use this list to proactively institutionalize our client relationships Explore the business case behind the creation of a Surety MGA for Navacord Collaborate with our National Broker Partners to develop and implement a successful sales strategy within our Construction Segment to meet our annual growth targets All other tasks as assigned WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE: Undergraduate university degree in a relevant field (Administration, Finance, etc.) RIBO license is an asset CAIB, CRM and CIP / FCIP designation an asset 10+ years of insurance experience with Construction & Surety Ability for interpersonal communication, strong leadership required Ability to manage change Ability to establish strategic direction, make decisions, transmit and communicate information, manage and coach Oral and written bilingualism an asset (English/French).
