Job summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for completing the daily accounting operations (full-cycle), of multiple entities, ensuring compliance, and preparing consolidated financial reports & statements. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of IFRS, excellent analytical skills, strong attention to deadlines, and the ability to work collaboratively with different teams. Duties, Responsibilities, Authority, and Accountabilities * Complete day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts receivable, general ledger, reconciliations, and reporting in compliance with IFRS. * Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements and reports in a timely and accurate manner. * Analyze financial data and provide insights into financial performance to support decision-making processes. * Responsibility for project accounting across the business, including creating, maintaining and reviewing costs associated with operational and future projects. * Business partnering with internal and external project partners. * Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and consistency in financial reporting. * Support and mentor junior accounting staff and guide them on accounting issues and processes. * Advise on technical accounting approaches, for example, IFRS 16 * Review and reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, and other financial documents. * Support the implementation and conduct regular audits and reconciliations to identify and resolve any discrepancies in the ERP system. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve accounting issues and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. * Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local tax regulations and coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit process. * Prepare monthly reports as required, including GST, WCB, and government remittances. * Prepare and file tax returns and other statutory reporting. Other * Perform other duties as required. Reporting Responsibilities and Authorities from Supervisor * Accounting Manager Knowledge, Skills, and Experience * Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification or equivalent preferred. * Minimum 4 years’ experience of full cycle accounting. * Strong experience in project accounting. * Experience mentoring junior accounting staff. * Strong understanding of IFRS and Canadian accounting principles and regulations. * Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process * Self-motivated and results-focused * Good organizational and time-management skills. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial data to non-financial stakeholders. * Elevated levels of integrity and ability to manage confidential information. * Ability to work independently within established guidelines and procedures and as a member of a team. * Willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities. * Ability to set and manage priorities to meet deadlines. * Proficient in MS Office software (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and accounting software (e.g. Quickbooks, NetSuite) * Experience working with First Nations is an asset. Special Requirements * Willing to work additional hours as required. Working Conditions * Office work (prolonged sitting, lifting boxes X lbs.).
