Job Description About the Role The Building Materials Analyst prepares samples and measures specifications using prescribed lab equipment for each product. Analyzes samples by following established procedures in order to determine sample condition and specifications. Records data and measurements. Conducts database searches, identify selections, make report comments, and generates validation reports based on correct specifications. Maintains optimal efficiency and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Measures, evaluates, and analyzes all sample specifications, database selections, websites, and library samples to ensure accuracy in determining like, kind & quality selections or matches. Operates and utilizes lab equipment/tools as required, following current lab procedures. Documents and verifies all unusual specifications, poor sample conditions, and any aspects of individual samples that does not comply with industry norms by placing internal notes and report comments in ITEL software. Communicates with manufacturers and distributors as required by specific products. Generates a validation report containing findings of the analysis and product recommendations. Files and stores samples according to set procedures. Assists in “Disaster Recovery” implementation. Assists other departments as needed or directed. Qualifications Education & Experience Required: High school diploma or equivalent At least two (2) years of job-related experience preferred in the flooring, siding, or roofing industries Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to evaluate mathematical data and arrive at a decision Ability to operate light industrial machinery, measuring devices (ie. microscopes, calipers, vision systems, spectrometers, etc.), and a variety of general tools Ability to effectively balance multiple tasks Effective problem solving and decision making Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software Preferred: Some college coursework Key Competencies Results-Oriented: ability to plan, schedule and organize professional schedule to achieve strategic goals within or ahead of established time frames Adaptability to Change: ability to be flexible and supportive, react swiftly to and able to positively and proactively assimilate change in rapid growth environment Interpersonal Communication: ability to choose a communication behavior that is both appropriate and effective for a given situation; the ability to understand and manage your own emotions, as well as recognize and influence the emotions of others Team Orientation and Collaboration: ability to successfully build and maintain collaborative relationships to work effectively together as a team through shared responsibility, respect, and empathy to complete a shared goal for a common good Accountability: ability to act with a clear sense of ownership; takes personal responsibility for decisions, actions, deliverables, and failures; establishes clear responsibilities and processes for monitoring work and measuring results; embraces experimentation, creativity, and positive change Cultural Competence: ability to understand and respect values, attitudes, beliefs, and mores of the member that differ across cultures, and to consider and respond appropriately to these differences in planning, implementing, and evaluating health programs and interventions Additional Information Why you'll love working at Nearmap: We move fast and work smart; often wearing multiple hats.
