We are currently seeking a Damage Prevention Technician for immediate hire. This is a Permanent full-time position. *Duties & Responsibilities* * Responsible for managing work orders and documenting locates * Provide sketches with markings of the locates and attach these to the correct work order * Utilize assigned communication equipment to effectively communicate with excavators and company personnel regarding underground facilities while utilizing industry safety practices. * Properly locate buried utility lines * Operate various electronic devices including use of a receiver wand and transmitter designed to assist in the locating and verifying of underground utilities * Mark utility lines using spray paint or coloured flags * Prepare various reports and documentation verifying marked utilities * Complete locates to Cogeco standards and schedules as required * Conduct utility locates as required Perform other duties as required conduit and test signal levels to ensure integrity is maintained. * May perform other related duties as assigned. *Requirements* * Experience is an asset but not required. * Must have your own steel-toed safety boots * High School Diploma or equivalent * Holds a valid G licence and comfortable driving in all types of weather conditions * Must be able to navigate utilizing GPS, or maps * Must be able to utilize a laptop computer to interpret utility maps * Ability to work with minimal supervision * Excellent communication and problem solving skills * Ability to work in all types of weather * Candidates are required to use locating equipment by holding a receiver weighing up to 5 pounds * Candidates must be comfortable walking on all types of terrain (grass, gravel, dirt and roadways) * Candidates must be able to work shifts during the night while providing on call coverage 1 week per month.
