Workplace Type: Onsite Newmont produces metals the world needs - safely, responsibly and with care for people, communities and the environment. With a 100+ year history, we continue to shape the future of mining through innovation and strong operational performance. By joining our inclusive, world-class team, you can help shape the future of mining and make a meaningful difference. Red Chris is an open-pit copper-gold mine in the famous Golden Triangle of northern British Columbia, situated on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation. As a fly-in, fly-out operation, Red Chris is reached via charter flights from multiple locations in BC and Alberta, with teams working on a rotational schedule. Currently an active open-pit producer, Red Chris is poised for an exciting transformation – we are developing a high-value underground block cave that will extend the mine’s life for decades and unlock even more resources. The remote location fosters a close-knit “camp” community where safety and teamwork come first. Working at Red Chris offers an adventurous career at the frontier of mining innovation, with the opportunity to shape a major expansion while enjoying the natural beauty of northern Canada. Our team values strong partnerships with local First Nations and is committed to operating in a safe, inclusive and environmentally responsible way. Your Contribution As a Specialist Geologist, Structural, you'll provide structural geology expertise that supports both current operations and the future development of the Red Chris Block Cave. You'll play a critical role in maintaining and advancing structural models, integrating geological and geotechnical data, and delivering insights that support mine design, hazard assessment, and geotechnical decision-making. As Part of Our Team, You Will Lead and support structural geology data collection, mapping, logging, and interpretation activities for structural modeling and geotechnical analysis. Create, maintain, and enhance structural geological models using surface and underground drilling and mapping data. Provide structural geology input into geotechnical assessments, mine planning, hazard management, and underground development activities. Analyze and interpret structural and seismic datasets to support geotechnical evaluations and mining decisions. Collaborate with geology, geotechnical, mine planning, and operational teams to integrate structural information into business decisions. Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline. Extensive experience in structural geology, geological modeling, and operational mining environments. Advanced geological modeling capability, including strong proficiency with Leapfrog and structural interpretation. Experience working with structural, geotechnical, and seismic datasets to support mining decisions. Underground mining experience preferred; block cave mining experience highly regarded. Your Work Environment • Permanent role supporting the Red Chris Block Cave project. • Reports through the geotechnical function under the Geotechnical/Geoscience Manager. • 15/13 site-based roster currently anticipated, with potential flexibility or hybrid arrangements for the right candidate. • Relocation support may be available for qualified candidates. • Opportunity to support the transition from open pit operations to a major block cave mining operation.
