Application Deadline: 9 October 2026 Department: Safety Location: Rook I Site Description Reporting to the Site Manager, Health & Safety, Radiation, and Environment (HSRE), the Health & Safety Coordinator will play a fundamental role in supporting all workers on site, including contractors on all matters relating to health and safety. The H&S Coordinator is a collaborative role that requires strong communication, relationship building and influencing skills. This role is pivotal in ensuring effective and safe behaviours and functioning on the Rook I Project Site. This role provides HSE support for night shift operations, ensuring safe execution of work activities and compliance with site and regulatory requirements during overnight site activities. Location This position will be based at the Rook I site on a 2 week in/2 week out working night shift. NexGen’s Rook I Project Site is located approximately 155km north of La Loche, Saskatchewan. Accommodations and meals are provided while on rotation. Travel logistics to/from site are coordinated by NexGen. Key Responsibilities Support development and continuous improvement of health and safety programs and processes for the Project. Provide expertise and guidance to employees and contractors in the implementation of the health and safety programs, procedures and processes. Support employee and contractor engagement and hazard communication activities related to health and safety through occupational health committees and other means as required. Provide subject matter expert support and input as required to ensure Project and site processes are fit-for-purpose and comply with regulatory requirements. Participate in and contribute to risk assessments as related to conventional health and safety hazards and controls. Assist in the development and delivery of safety training programs for all employees, contractors, and visitors. Participate in the Integrated Management System audit activities as required. Assist in the incident management process, participate in incident investigations and corrective action activities as assigned. Analyze incident data to identify trends and prepare required health and safety reports as required. Drive continual improvement efforts enhancing health and safety, emergency preparedness and response, fire protection and contractor management programs. Participate in emergency response and mine rescue drills and training exercises. Promote a strong safety culture encouraging active participation with all employees and contractors. Recognize and reward safe behaviors and achievements. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Degree or diploma in health and safety management, risk management, engineering, or a related field. Significant experience in mining or heavy industry may be accepted in place of educational requirements. Minimum five years experience in heavy industry or mining, with uranium mining and milling experience considered an asset. Detailed knowledge of key concepts, theories, and practices related to effective control of health and safety related risks. Have an in-depth working knowledge of Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and Saskatchewan Mining Regulations. Proficiency in incident investigation, and emergency response planning and execution. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Strong digital literacy with Microsoft Office Suite, experience with database management, and the ability to learn new software. Satisfactory completion of a Pre-Employment Drug and Alcohol Test as required for the Rook I project. Requirements
A degree or diploma in health and safety management, risk management, engineering, or a related field is requested, though significant mining or heavy-industry experience may substitute. Candidates need at least five years of heavy-industry or mining experience, knowledge of Saskatchewan occupational health and mining regulations, and skills in incident investigation, emergency response, communication, and digital tools.
