Human Resources Business Partner (Hybrid) About NextPlay HR NextPlay HR is a fractional Human Resources partner to founder-led and small-medium sized companies across Canada and the United States. Why This Role Exists We're growing, and we're adding a Human Resources Business Partner to support our clients and help shape how we deliver as a firm. You'll manage your own client accounts, partner with founders and leaders at every level, and help build the systems and processes behind our work. What You'll Do Partner with clients: advise founders, leadership teams, and managers on employee relations, performance, compensation, policy, and workforce planning Run the essentials: support payroll, benefits, onboarding, and the everyday questions that keep a business running smoothly Bring judgment: understand the business behind the question, and recommend what fits Help build NextPlay: set up and manage our work management and time tracking platforms, and contribute to the processes our team uses Pitch in: we're a small team, and everyone helps where it's needed What You'll Bring 6+ years of Human Resources experience, including at least 2 years in a client-facing or business partner role Payroll experience Working knowledge of employment standards across multiple jurisdictions Strong time management, with the ability to balance several clients and priorities at once Attention to detail, from payroll to policy Clear, confident communication with people at every level of an organization An interest in how people decisions affect business results Nice to have: Cross-border experience, Canada and the United States Experience in unionized environments, including working with collective agreements French, spoken and written A Certified Human Resources Professional designation, or progress toward one If you don't meet every point on this list but the role feels right, we'd still like to hear from you. Requirements

Requires at least six years of Human Resources experience, including two years in a client-facing or business partner role, payroll experience, and working knowledge of employment standards across multiple jurisdictions. Candidates should be organized, detail-oriented, confident communicators, and able to balance multiple clients; cross-border experience, union experience, French, and a human resources designation are advantageous.
