Job Title: Junior Accountant - Winter 2027 Co-op Department: Finance & Settlements Location: Toronto, ON (On-Site) Wage: $20.00–$22.00 per hour The final hourly rate will be determined based on the candidate’s year of study, relevant experience, previous co-op/internship experience, and specialized skills. Job Type & Duration: Co-op, Winter Term Note: This is a supervised, entry-level student placement designed to provide practical accounting experience. The Co-op student will support the accounting team with day-to-day financial operations, focusing primarily on bookkeeping and financial record maintenance. This role provides hands-on experience in core accounting functions and exposure to real-world financial processes. What You Will Do Recording financial transactions and maintaining accurate bookkeeping records Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable processing Performing bank and account reconciliations Updating and maintaining the general ledger Assisting with the preparation of financial statements and reports Supporting month-end closing procedures Organizing financial documents and ensuring data accuracy Using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel) for data entry and analysis What You Will Bring: Qualifications/Skills: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Basic understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Good communication and time management abilities Ability to work independently and as part of a team Nice to have: Previous internship or part-time experience in accounting or bookkeeping Familiarity with financial reporting and reconciliation processes Accommodations Nexus Energy Inc. is committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible work environment.
