Since 1984, North York Women's Shelter (NYWS) has operated a 30-bed emergency shelter. Our Mission: NYWS actively supports the rights of women and children to build lives free of violence by providing non-judgemental safe shelter, advocacy, and a range of programs & services including 24-hour crisis support. Our vision is to create a community characterized by gender equality where women and their children feel empowered and safe and all services are provided according the NYWS’s Trauma-Informed Key Principles.

The Women's Advocate provides trauma-informed support, advocacy, and crisis intervention for clients within a shelter environment. Responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, managing intakes, and maintaining the shelter's safety and operational standards.
