EDUCATION COORDINATOR, INDIGENOUS HEALTH

Reporting to the Regional Lead, Cultural Safety & Anti-Indigenous Racism Education, and in direct collaboration with the Northern Health teams in Indigenous Health, Organizational Education, Clinical Education and Organizational Development, the Education Coordinator, Indigenous Health (the Coordinator) works collaboratively with all Northern Health departments and Indigenous community partners and internal/external stakeholders, to identify, develop, coordinate, facilitate and inform educational opportunities in alignment with Northern Health’s commitment to addressing Anti-Indigenous racism and commitment to building trust and cultural safety in the delivery of all programs and services. The coordinator will advise, inform, and support leaders across Northern Health, facilitating development that engages leaders to model and become champions of progressive leadership in pursuit of cultural safety, respect and equitable treatment for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. The coordinator will establish and maintain an active network of Indigenous subject matter experts, elders, and educators across the North and facilitate their invitation to contribute to and collaborate with Northern Health’s teams in the development and delivery of education opportunities for Northern Health. Position location is flexible within Northern Health regions, and may be a remote position. The salary range for this position is $76,111 (min) to $95,138 (midpoint) to $109,409 (max) per annum, based on 1.0 FTE. Northern Health typically establishes salaries within the minimum and midpoint of the salary range based on qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

The Coordinator identifies, develops, and facilitates educational opportunities to address anti-Indigenous racism and build cultural safety within Northern Health. They also establish networks with Indigenous subject matter experts and elders to collaborate on the delivery of these programs.

Candidates should possess knowledge of Indigenous health and cultural safety, with a preference given to First Nation, Inuit, Métis, or those of Indigenous ancestry. The role requires the ability to collaborate with internal departments and external community partners.
