Term of App't: Two-year term until approx. August 31, 2028 (75% release time) Start Date: September 1, 2026 Reporting to: Dean, Academics Salary An annual stipend of $3,127.00, in accordance with BCGEU Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement. Description Under the direction of the Dean, the successful candidate will be responsible for educational leadership within the Arts and Sciences, and related, programs for all campuses. The Chair will have responsibility for maintaining excellence in the department and for taking appropriate, timely action to foster the highest possible standards of teaching, scholarship, service, and student advising. The Chair also provides focus and direction to ensure the quality of programs, with responsibilities for leading the department in matters of curriculum, planning, assessment, regulatory oversight, student affairs, and adherence to college policy. The Chair coordinates and supports the personal and professional talents of the department members and assists them in functioning as an effective team. This role requires close collaboration with the NLC Chair team to ensure year-round departmental coverage. Qualifications Required: Must be a current regular employee of Northern Lights College Completion of a relevant graduate degree (Master's or PhD) Minimum of five years of instructional experience at the post-secondary level in relevant programs Demonstrable commitment to educational leadership Proven excellence in written and verbal communication Strong team-building and consultative leadership skills Preferred Not currently receiving course release for another appointed position Willingness to coordinate vacation time to ensure Chair coverage throughout the period of June - August, including academic year start-up (to be determined in collaboration with the successful candidate) Attention: Only applications submitted through the Northern Lights College's employment website will be considered.
