We are looking for a temporary Renovator( Temp) to join our Residential team in Iqaluit, NU. Reporting to the Renovations Supervisor, you are responsible for completing a variety of repair, renovation and suite preparation activities across Northview’s residential properties. This role performs work including flooring, drywall, painting, carpentry, cabinetry, minor plumbing and electrical repairs, as well as demolition, material handling and general suite upgrades to support the timely preparation and turnover of units. Through quality workmanship, efficient completion of assigned work and safe work practices, Renovators help maintain the condition of Northview’s properties and ensure suites and common areas are ready for occupancy and ongoing operations. Responsibilities: Install flooring materials, including laminate, lino, and carpet Perform minor plumbing repairs and renovations, including replacing toilets, taps, under-cabinet piping, and other basic plumbing fixtures Replace and repair switches, light fixtures, electrical sockets, and other minor electrical components Complete drywall repairs, patching, painting, and preparation of walls, ceilings, doors, and trim Install and replace window assemblies, completing repairs or adjustments as required Perform carpentry work, including measuring, cutting, and installing baseboards, hanging doors, completing minor kitchen cabinet repairs, and installing shelving and cabinets Complete minor repairs and renovations to suites and common areas to prepare spaces for occupancy Complete preventative pest control measures during suite turnovers, including identifying and sealing holes, gaps, and other potential pest entry points, and report pest concerns requiring specialized treatment or pest control services Load, unload, move, and organize renovation materials, supplies, fixtures, cabinets, appliances, and equipment as required Remove existing fixtures, cabinets, flooring, and other materials in preparation for renovation work Remove construction and renovation debris and maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas throughout renovation activities Identify and report building deficiencies, damaged materials, or repairs requiring specialized trades or further assessment Complete assigned renovation work orders and maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used as required Use tools, equipment, and materials safely and appropriately and maintain them in good working condition Ensure all renovation and repair work is performed safely and in accordance with Northview’s Health and Safety requirements, policies, and procedures Perform other duties relating to the repair and renovation of buildings or suites as assigned Qualifications & Experience: 2+ years of experience in residential, commercial, or building renovations Experience performing a variety of renovation and repair work, including flooring installation, drywall repair, painting, carpentry, cabinetry, doors, windows, and minor plumbing and electrical work Experience using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment commonly used in renovation and building maintenance Experience preparing suites or other spaces for occupancy, including removal of existing fixtures, materials, cabinets, flooring, and renovation debris Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, manage time effectively, and complete assigned work within established timelines Experience working safely with renovation tools, equipment, materials, and products Experience working in a residential or multi-unit housing environment an asset Requirements: Ability to work independently and prioritize assigned renovation and repair tasks Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing and walking for extended periods, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, lifting, carrying, and moving materials and equipment Ability to work in occupied and vacant suites, common areas, and construction environments Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 lbs Flexible availability with the ability to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies, as required Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and properly handle and dispose of renovation debris Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable transportation or clear drivers abstract Benefits: Competitive pay Extended health care including medical, dental, and vision coverage Life insurance, drug coverage, and wellness programs Discounts on rent at Northview properties Vacation Travel Assistance for Northern employees If your background matches the qualifications listed above and you are looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the communities we serve, please submit your resume in confidence. Requirements
