The Medical Laboratory Technologist possesses the technical ability and problem-solving skills to perform all tests (both manual and automated) in the clinical and environmental laboratories. Performs laboratory tests with a network of steps and variables according to established protocols and works with little or no supervision in emergency and weekend/night situations. Operates instruments that are often computer integrated and networked and uses computerized information systems. Compares test results to pre-established criteria (reference intervals) and makes decisions regarding the reportability of results, thus exercising independent judgment. Stressful working conditions require the Medical Laboratory Technologist to be tactful, sensitive and able to communicate effectively and professionally. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times as deemed essential by the Medical Laboratory Technologist Code of Conduct. ABOUT YOU We would love to hear from you if you have the following: * Must be a graduate from a recognized Medical Laboratory Technologist program or equivalent (as determined by NSRMLS) * Candidates must have successfully completed the Medical Laboratory Technologist Examination in all five disciplines * Licensure (active) with Nova Scotia Regulator of Medical Laboratory Sciences (NSRMLS) * Personal Liability Insurance (PLI) required * Ability to work shiftwork (weekends and holidays as required) * Willingness to travel when required * Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred Please ensure your resume is up to date and includes all relevant education, experience, training, and certifications HOURS * Permanent full-time position; 75 hours biweekly COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS $33.20 - $42.47 hourly Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan. Requirements
Candidates must be graduates of an approved Medical Laboratory Technologist program and hold or be eligible for NSRMLS licensure. Registration with CSMLS is required, along with the ability to work shifts including weekends and holidays.
