Responsibilities include preparing patients for and performing site-wide electrocardiograms, signal-averaged electrocardiograms, ambulatory monitoring (Holter/Event Monitor preliminary reporting), and physician-assisted exercise tolerance testing (stress testing). The Registered Cardiology Technologist Advanced performs noninvasive cardiac diagnostic tests, including electrocardiograms and stress testing, to assist in patient diagnosis. They also provide mentorship and preceptorship to new learners within the Cardiac Electrodiagnostic Unit.

Candidates must have a Grade 12 diploma and successful completion of a Cardiology Technology program. Current registration with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists and BLS (HCP) certification are required.
