About Acerta Energy Acerta Energy acquires, optimizes, and develops producing conventional oil and gas assets in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, led by a management team with a proven track record of building successful E&P businesses. Position Description The Production Engineer-in-Training (EIT) supports Acerta's operational and corporate objectives by assisting with production engineering activities across the operated asset base. Under the guidance of senior engineering staff, this role develops practical engineering experience in production optimization, well performance analysis, field operations support, and regulatory compliance while working toward professional engineering designation. Responsibilities Production Surveillance & Optimization Monitor daily production performance and assist in identifying production constraints; Analyze production trends, downtime, and well performance data; Support optimization initiatives related to artificial lift, choke management, and facility performance; Assist in identifying underperforming wells and recommending improvement opportunities. Engineering Analysis Gather and interpret production, operating, and well data; Support decline curve analysis, production forecasting, and engineering evaluations; Prepare technical summaries, performance reports, and engineering presentations; Assist with economic evaluations of workovers and optimization projects. Operations Support Work closely with field operations personnel to understand operational challenges; Participate in troubleshooting production and facility issues; Support field visits, site inspections, and operational reviews; Assist with implementation and follow-up on engineering recommendations. Workover & Project Support Assist in planning and tracking workovers, recompletions, and well interventions; Support preparation of engineering scopes, cost estimates, and documentation; Track project performance and compile post-project evaluations. Regulatory & Compliance Support preparation of regulatory submissions and engineering documentation; Maintain engineering records and ensure data accuracy; Learn and apply regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements. Collaboration & Development Work collaboratively with Production, Reservoir, Facilities, and Operations teams; Participate in technical meetings and project reviews; Pursue ongoing development toward professional engineering registration; Seek mentorship from senior engineering staff and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives; Other tasks as assigned by senior engineering staff or management. What You Bring Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical, or related discipline); Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training with APEGA; 0–3 years of production engineering or related oil and gas experience; co-op or internship experience is an asset; Familiarity with production data, decline curve analysis, and artificial lift systems; Good understanding of safety and regulatory compliance requirements; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail; Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office; experience with SCADA, production accounting, or forecasting software is an asset; Valid Class 5 driver's license and willingness to travel to field locations.
