Job summary
PURPOSE Bend, cut, bundle, and load reinforcing steel bars in accordance with customer's orders. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor Rebar Fabrication’s vision and values. Operate a shearing machine to accurately cut reinforcing steel bars to specified lengths. Read and interpret production tags, shop drawings, and cut lists to ensure accuracy. Based on production needs, the incumbent may also be required to: Operate a bending machine to bend reinforcing steel bars into specified shapes. Operate an overhead crane to move, assemble, and select material to be fabricated or shipped. Operate a Fabmatic machine to cut and bend reinforcing steel bars into specified shapes. Unload trailers and store material in storage bins. Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping. Operate power saw for cutting reinforcing steel bars to specified lengths. Operate a spray gun in the application of epoxy touch up or reinforcing steel bars. Maintain the shop or designated area in a clean and safe manner. Assist other employees in any of the above tasks. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Minimum three years experience in rebar shop setting Experience operating a shearing machine required; additional fabrication equipment experience preferred Must have basic math skills to be able to calculate bar measurements High School Diploma or equivalent SPECIAL DEMANDS Overtime hours may be required Must be able to work any shift Must be familiar with, and adhere to shop safety policies and procedures PHYSICAL DEMANDS Some heavy lifting may be necessary Working conditions can be noisy/ dusty/ hot/ cold Use of AI in Our Hiring Process: Our recruitment team may use AI-assisted tools to help identify and review candidate applications based on job-related requirements and qualifications.
