Construction Site Superintendent Location: Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Construction Site Superintendent to oversee the day-to-day delivery of construction projects throughout the Halifax Regional Municipality. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for coordinating trades, maintaining schedules, monitoring quality and ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate is a confident site leader with strong construction knowledge, excellent organizational skills and a proven ability to keep projects and people moving forward. Key Responsibilities Manage daily construction activities and overall site operations. Coordinate subcontractors, trades, suppliers, deliveries and equipment. Review project plans, specifications, schedules and scopes of work. Monitor project progress and proactively address delays or site challenges. Conduct regular site inspections to ensure workmanship meets project standards. Enforce occupational health and safety requirements and company procedures. Lead site orientations, toolbox talks and safety meetings. Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports and site documentation. Coordinate inspections and work with consultants, engineers and authorities. Identify deficiencies and ensure corrective work is completed promptly. Monitor materials, labour requirements and site productivity. Communicate project updates, risks and changes to the Project Manager. Support commissioning, closeout and turnover activities. Maintain a professional, organized and respectful worksite. Qualifications At least five years of construction-site experience, including experience in a supervisory or superintendent role. Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, drawings and specifications. Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple trades and subcontractors. Knowledge of Nova Scotia occupational health and safety requirements and applicable building codes. Strong leadership, communication and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable using email, scheduling tools and construction-management software. Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation. First Aid, WHMIS and safety certifications are considered assets. Red Seal certification, technical training or construction-management education is an asset.
