About the Role This is a highly visible role where your work directly supports the planning, operation, and maintenance of Oakville Hydro’s electrical distribution system. As the GIS and CAD Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining GIS data, distribution system records, and electronic drawings while supporting construction projects, infrastructure improvements, and utility modernization initiatives. What You'll Be Doing * Create and maintain electronic drawings for electrical distribution construction projects, including overhead and underground systems, subdivisions, pad plans, and standard drawings * Maintain, update, and import distribution network information within the ESRI ArcFM GIS environment * Prepare and maintain construction drawings, permanent records, and associated documentation * Issue drawings and records to internal departments as required * Maintain equipment records, drawing indexes, and document management systems * Support GIS data quality initiatives and system improvements * Assist with Oakville Hydro's digital transformation and modernization projects * Provide technical support related to GIS and CAD information * Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and other internal stakeholders * Perform other related duties as assigned What You Bring * Diploma or Degree in GIS, Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline * Minimum 2–3 years of GIS and AutoCAD experience, preferably within an electrical utility, engineering consulting, municipal, or infrastructure environment * Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and GIS applications * Experience with ESRI ArcGIS/ArcFM and AutoCAD Map 3D * Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and utility mapping is considered a strong asset * Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills * Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy * Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment What Success Looks Like * Maintains accurate, reliable, and up-to-date GIS and asset records * Produces high-quality work with strong attention to detail * Builds positive working relationships across teams * Identifies opportunities to improve processes and data quality * Adapts to changing technologies and business requirements * Demonstrates accountability, initiative, and a commitment to continuous improvement * Contributes to safe and reliable utility operations through accurate records and drawings Oakville Hydro is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Requirements
