Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Industrial Electrician/Instrumentation & Control Apprentice. Job Overview Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a motivated and hands-on individual to join our team as an Industrial Electrician or Instrumentation & Control Apprentice. This position will work alongside experienced Control Technicians to learn how to inspect, test, maintain, calibrate, and repair electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and control equipment used at generating stations and related facilities. You will gain hands-on training and experience in electrical, instrumentation, control, protection, and telecommunications equipment while working in accordance with established safety procedures, technical standards, and work instructions. Key Accountabilities Assist with installing, inspecting, testing, calibrating, maintaining, and repairing electrical, instrumentation, control, protection, and telecommunications equipment. Use electrical test equipment, hand tools, power tools, and related equipment safely and effectively. Support preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic equipment condition assessments under supervision. Assist with equipment commissioning and testing in accordance with approved procedures and standards. Help prepare and maintain work records, drawings, sketches, and other maintenance documentation. Prepare tools, materials, and work areas for assigned maintenance activities. Follow established safety procedures, work instructions, and take direction and learn from qualified tradespeople and supervisors. Qualifications Successful completion of a 2-or 3-year College Program in Instrumentation & Control Technician/Technologist or Electrical Technician/Technologist/Technology (proof of completion must be included in application) Have a minimum average of 70% cumulative GPA (transcript must be included in application) Work experience in the Nuclear industry (i.e. Skilled Trades Co-op) would be an asset *OPG will sponsor successful candidates for registration with Skilled Trades Ontario (STO) as either an Industrial Electrician (442A) Apprentice or an Instrumentation & Control (447A) Apprentice.* ** Note that candidates who are selected to proceed in the recruitment process will be required to complete online aptitude testing. ** The successful candidate will exhibit uncompromising integrity and commitment to upholding corporate values, and the OPG Code of Business Conduct. Nuclear-industry work experience is an asset, and successful candidates will be sponsored for registration as an Industrial Electrician or Instrumentation and Control apprentice.
